181-183 Kamerunga Rd. developer, Fineline Construction has lodged a revised development application with Cairns Regional Council to build 14 townhouses there. It’s hoped a new two-storey, medium-density unit block proposed for Freshwater will help ease a critical Cairns housing stock shortage.

Two of the region’s biggest property sales of the year have been snapped up almost $30m worth of real estate.
The Hotel Grand Chancellor at Palm Cove has sold to a Sydney investor for a cool $10.88m via an expression of interest campaign. The new owners plan to overhaul the entire operation to return it to its former glory in 2022. 
The Highway Service Centre 18km south of Cairns changed hands for $18.4m. APN Convenience Retail REIT. The centre includes the service station, McDonald’s drive-through restaurant and a Subway, all with more than 200m combined road frontage exposed to 130,000 cars per week.

A $300m-plus residential, tourist and water park project has finally announced a construction date after a long-running court battle has now ended. The Paradise Palms owner is pushing ahead with plans to transform former Kewarra Beach golf course into The Palms Collection – a master planned community complete with school and retirement village. The community is set to be a “renewable energy precinct” and the first in the Far North to receive EnviroDevelopment accreditation.

For carrying out major upgrades and new infrastructure projects worth more than $13m, The Cairns Regional Council has now deployed many construction crews across the region on works from Goldsborough up to Holloways Beach.
