Welcome to “Dry July”… yes there is a website for it (dryjuly.com), you can participate to help raise funds to improve the comfort and well-being of people affected by cancer. So far about $2million has been raised. Believe it or not one of the major sponsors of this campaign is B.W.S.

The 2019-20 Queensland Budget contained a 14% rise in expenditure from last year.  However, it was mostly in used in the Brisbane & South Coast area – there was a net decline in regional Queensland (Cairns Townsville etc.). That said,  the new water laboratory in Cairns recently opened and was partly funded with a $1.5 million contribution from the Palaszczuk Government.

The latest REIQ report reveals the quarterly median house price has fluctuated over the past year. The Cairns median house price reduced by 3.1% over the quarter to $397,500. Over the year ending March, the result was less dramatic with a benign price fall of 1.2% to be $410,000. Unsurprisingly the number of sales over the year has reduced 16.2 per cent. The Cairns housing market now represents the second most affordable tourism centre in Queensland.
